Summary: Primarily photographs (and one photograph album) chiefly studio portraits of family members, mostly from the 1880s; as well as certificates of election and appointment, children's school documents, and newspaper articles about ancestors. A small book of letters from an 1889 trip to Mexico describes Mexican culture, land and people. There is a photograph of the Zabriskie's Tucson home at 50 E. Ochoa taken by Willis Haynes; one photograph each of the Tucson baseball team and the Tombstone baseball team (f.7) circa 1890, and an image of a University of Arizona class group, ca. 1895.

Biographical note: Attorney; James A. Zabriskie was born in 1844 in New Jersey, educated at West Point and Columbia, and moved to California where he joined the Lyon Guards at the start of the Civil War. He came to Tucson in 1878 in a covered wagon with Bishop John Baptiste Salpointe and Dr. Samaniego.
